Privacy

This site is run by juicesharp, one person, reachable at hello@juicesharp.com. It collects as little as it can: no ads, no tracking cookies, no selling or sharing of data, and no account is needed to read anything.

When you read a page

Pages are served by Cloudflare. Like any web server, Cloudflare sees your IP address and browser details to deliver the page and protect the site from attacks. Request logs are kept for a few days for debugging and then deleted.

The site uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits and measure page speed. It sets no cookies, doesn't fingerprint your device and doesn't follow you across sites. I only ever see totals.

When you answer a claim

When you click "Same for me", "Not for me" or "Haven't checked" in a guide, the site stores:

  • your answer and the time;
  • a random ID for your browser, kept in a cookie named browser, so you answer each claim once and can change your answer. It isn't linked to your name, email or anything else;
  • a keyed, one-way code for your network (based on the first part of your IP address, never the address itself), used to limit abuse.

Answering runs Cloudflare Turnstile, an invisible check that you're a person.

When you vote

To vote on the next pair, you give your email address. The site stores:

  • your email address and the pair you chose;
  • a single-use confirmation link, stored only in scrambled form, which expires after 24 hours;
  • once you confirm, a signed cookie named voter, so you can change your vote from the same browser without another email.

Your address is used to confirm the vote and to send you one email with the result when the round closes. Nothing else. Votes also run Cloudflare Turnstile.

When you sign up for the letter or the Arclet waitlist

You give your email address. For the waitlist you also say which pair you own and whether you use a Mac. The site stores:

  • your email address, the list you joined and where you signed up (for example, which guide);
  • for the waitlist, the pair you named and your Mac answer;
  • a record of your consent: the exact wording you agreed to and when you confirmed;
  • a single-use confirmation link, stored only in scrambled form, which expires after 3 days.

Nothing is sent until you confirm. The letter is one email when a guide goes up or a vote closes; the waitlist is one email when Arclet supports your pair. Every email has a one-click unsubscribe, which removes you from that list only.

Emails

Emails are sent through Resend, which handles delivery only.

Both are strictly necessary for the feature you used, so no consent banner is needed. Neither is used for tracking or advertising.

Where it's stored

Everything is stored with Cloudflare in Eastern North America (United States). If you're in the EU or UK, your data is transferred to the US under the European Commission's standard contractual clauses, which Cloudflare and Resend both use.

How long it's kept

  • Claim answers: as long as the guide is published, or until you ask for deletion.
  • Votes: as the record of each round, or until you ask for deletion.
  • Email addresses: while they're needed for a vote and its result, while you're on the letter or the waitlist, or until you ask for deletion.
  • Consent records: as long as the address is on a list, as proof that you agreed.
  • Backups: the database is copied every night to private Cloudflare storage. Each copy is deleted after 30 days, and Cloudflare keeps its own restore history for 7 days. A deletion therefore leaves the backups within 30 days.
  • Abuse-limit codes: deleted automatically, within an hour.
  • Unused confirmation links: expire after 24 hours for votes, 3 days for sign-ups.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of what the site holds about you, have it corrected or deleted, or object to how it's used. Email hello@juicesharp.com and say which address you used; I'll reply within 30 days. If you're in the EU or UK, you can also complain to your data protection authority.

Children

This site isn't meant for children under 16, and I don't knowingly collect their data.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that matters, the date at the top changes, and anyone affected hears about it by email.
