How owner ratings are kept honest

Owner ratings are only useful if they come from real owners, one each. These are the steps the site takes.

Who can rate

  • Members only. Rating needs an account, and signing in proves you control the email address you use.
  • One rating per member per pair. You can change yours at any time; the earlier version is kept, so changes can be checked later.
  • Never mine. My own account is never counted with owners. My verdict is in the review.

What counts

  • A minimum before anything shows. An owner figure appears for a dimension only once 20 owners have rated it, so a handful of ratings can't speak for everyone.
  • No incentives, no shortcuts. Nobody is paid, rewarded or asked by a brand to rate. I don't write, seed or buy ratings.
  • Stars in search come from owners. The rating search engines show is owners' own overall answers, never my score or other sites' ratings.

When ratings look coordinated

  • Limits on every save. Each member, each network and each pair has limits on how often ratings can be saved.
  • Bursts pause the figures. If many ratings of one pair arrive in a short time, especially from new accounts or from one network, that pair's owner figures are paused at what readers saw just before. The ratings are kept, and I review them before the figures move again.
  • Everything is logged. Every pause and every resume is recorded.
